Biography
Lynn Nakamoto, a shareholder of the firm since 1994, and managing shareholder since 2006, concentrates her practice on employment law and civil appeals. She counsels both employees and employers, and has successfully handled hundreds of employment disputes. Her cases often involve claims for sexual harassment, employee benefits, or retaliation. Lynn frequently handles civil rights claims, including claims based on age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, national origin, and race discrimination. She has experience in both the state and federal trial and appellate courts, as well as with employment-related administrative proceedings and the arbitration and mediation of employment disputes. Lynn also serves as cooperating counsel for the ACLU in Oregon and is a board member for the Q Center, an emerging Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Questioning (LGBTQ) community center in Portland.
While attending New York University School of Law, Lynn was a note and comment editor for the Review of Law and Social Change. After graduation, she served as a staff attorney for Bronx Legal Services for two years. She came to Oregon in 1987, where she worked as a staff attorney and then acting executive director of Marion-Polk Legal Aid Service. In 1989, Lynn served as a law clerk to U.S. District Court Judge Helen J. Frye. She joined the firm later that year.
