Stacy Owen came to Markowitz, Herbold, Glade & Mehlhaf from Michigan in 2007. Before joining the firm, Stacy worked as an associate at the Midwest law firm of Dykema Gossett, PLLC.

Stacy has demonstrated her advocacy skills in a diverse litigation practice, including areas such as public utilities (electric, natural gas, and telecommunications), property tax foreclosure, election law, education law, constitutional law, statutory interpretation, employment law, unemployment insurance, and condemnation. In addition, she has provided corporate formation legal services and advice to nonprofit corporations, and performed work for clients in her former status as a registered lobbyist in Michigan.

Prior to graduating magna cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law, where she was an editor for the law review, Stacy spent more than 12 years in Michigan state government. Starting as a page in the Michigan Senate, Stacy worked her way up, being recruited by Governor John Engler to serve as the legislative liaison to the Michigan House of Representatives, and later, the Department of Career Development. Along the way, Stacy served as an aide to Senator Harmon Cropsey and Representative Terry London. She also served as an education policy advisor, staffing the education policy committee and the appropriations subcommittee in the Michigan House of Representatives.

As a full-time litigator for the firm, Stacy utilizes the strong writing ability and analytical skills she honed in these various legislative policy roles.
