January 2, 2008 -- Portland litigation firm Markowitz, Herbold, Glade & Mehlhaf, PC announced today that Stacy R. Owen has joined the firm as an associate.
Stacy brings substantial experience in legislative policy, litigation, and business law. Before moving to Oregon, she worked for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the Midwest law firm of Dykema Gossett, PLLC.
Prior to entering the private sector, Stacy spent more than 12 years in Michigan state government. She held legislative liaison posts in the Department of Career Development and Governor John Engler’s office, as well as aide positions with two state legislators. She also served as an education policy advisor, staffing the education policy committee and the appropriations subcommittee in the Michigan House of Representatives.
At Markowitz, Herbold, Glade & Mehlhaf, Stacy will concentrate her practice on complex commercial litigation, drawing on her diverse experience in areas such as public utilities, corporate formation, tax-exempt organizations, employment law, unemployment insurance, property tax foreclosure, statutory interpretation, and constitutional law.
Stacy earned her bachelor of arts degree from Michigan State University, and graduated
magna cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law, where she was an editor for the law review.
