Lynn Nakamoto Named One of 25 Top Women in Business

Portland, Ore. -- April 29, 2008 -- Portland litigation firm Markowitz, Herbold, Glade & Mehlhaf is pleased to announce that Lynn Nakamoto, managing shareholder of the firm, has been recognized as one of the top businesswomen in Portland.

Nakamoto received an Orchid Award at the 2008 Women in Business Party & Expo, held April 24, 2008, at the Oregon Convention Center. She was one of 25 women featured in the April 25 issue of the Portland Business Journal.

The Orchid Awards is an annual program honoring the top women leaders in business. Recipients are selected based on significant accomplishments in their profession combined with exceptional involvement in the community.

In addition to managing the Markowitz, Herbold, Glade & Mehlhaf firm, Nakamoto practices business litigation with an emphasis on civil appeals and employment law, representing both employees and employers. She frequently deals with civil rights claims, including claims based on age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, national origin and race discrimination.

Nakamoto is an active community volunteer and civil rights advocate. She volunteers as pro bono cooperating counsel for the ACLU in Oregon, and serves as a board member for the Q Center, the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community center in Portland. Nakamoto has received several honors for her efforts to promote the advancement of diversity, including the Judge Mercedes Deiz Award, which recognized her outstanding contributions in promoting minorities in the legal profession and the community, and the Equity Foundation’s John Grigsby-Jim Vegher Investments in Dignity Award.
